Man Utd EXCLUSIVE: Club bosses fear Jose Mourinho meltdown after Rui Faria exit

Faria had a career-long association with Mourinho as his trusted assistant dating back to 2002 - until quitting United in the summer for ‘family reasons’.

Reports claim United bosses are still behind Mourinho and supporting him, but Starsportunderstands figures within Old Trafford fear serious trouble is on the horizon now Faria is no longer alongside the Portuguese.

Mourinho is feeling the heat at United following his side’s shock Premier League defeat at Brighton last week.

Critics have weighed in to slam his negative tactics, strange behaviour and confrontational attitude.

Mourinho has fallen out with the likes of Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial and was unhappy club bosses failed to land some of his main transfer targets this summer.

There are serious doubts about Mourinho still being the right man to lead United, or if he is capable of mounting a serious title challenge.
