Kisumu man arrested after failed suicide attempt over cheating wife

Police in Kisumu are holding a man who tried to commit suicide after he suspected his wife was cheating on him.

Confirming the incident, Central Kisumu location Chief Simon Osege Orwa said the father of three locked himself inside the house and set it on fire in an attempt to take his life.

The administrator further stated that villagers who were nearby responded swiftly and managed to break the door and get him out.

The neighbours then alerted police who arrested Mr. Okoko pending his arraignment in court on Monday.

An eyewitness, Michael Nyaguti, told Radio Ramogi that the man started by destroying some of the household items before setting the house on fire.

The suspect’s wife and kids were, however, not in the house during the incident.
