Monica Lewinsky storms out of TV interview after being asked about Bill Clinton

The former White House intern was asked by Israeli presenter Yonit Levi whether she expects a personal apology from the former US president over the fallout from the scandal. In response, Ms Lewinsky told her ‘I’m so sorry. I’m not going to be able to do this’, before putting down her microphone and walking away.

The 45-year-old, who is now an anti-bullying activist, was in Jerusalem to give an address on the dangers of social media. During a meeting the day before, Ms Levi had put the question to her and Ms Lewinsky told her it was ‘off-limits’.

By asking the question, the interviewer showed a ‘blatant disregard for our agreement’, she tweeted. Ms Lewinsky wrote: ‘There were clear parameters about what we would be discussing and what we would not. ‘In fact, the exact question the interviewer asked first, she had put to me when we met the day prior. I said that was off limits.

‘When she asked me it on stage, with blatant disregard for our agreement, it became clear to me I had been misled. ‘I left because it is more important than ever for women to stand up for themselves and not allow others to control their narrative.’ Mr Clinton was asked in June whether he felt he owed Ms Lewinsky a personal apology. He told NBC: ‘No. I have never talked to her, but I did say publicly on more than one occasion that I was sorry.’
